Introduction

The Laboratory of Nanostructured materials for electrochemical power sources (http://www.nanolab.sfedu.ru/), Russia, seeks a post-doctoral candidate for a joint project “Electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction and evolution, CO2 reduction”. In the course of the project, it will be necessary to find and implement the conditions for the synthesis of nanostructured systems containing Pt (or Pt-M) nanoparticles and possessing high catalytic activity and, at the same time, high corrosion-morphological stability. The key aspect in solving the last problem is the search for synthesis conditions that allow optimizing the microstructure of the electrocatalyst simultaneously at different levels of its organization, which, in turn, requires the search for new non-standard methods for their preparation. The postdoc will perform the function of the leader of a small group of researchers, assist in the management of scientific research of graduate students, and actively participate in writing articles.

Job Requirements

  • The successful candidate should hold a recent PhD in Chemistry, Physical Chemistry or Materials Science
  • The Postdoc is expected to:

- Synthesize ORR or CO2 electroreduction catalysts based on mono- and poly-com-ponent metallic nanoparticles, Pt-free materials and carbon-based or composite supports

- Investigate catalyst performance using Rotating Disk Electrode and/or H2/Air MEA test-station

- Perform structural and electrochemical studies

- Write articles based on your research

  • The candidate should also have strong background in electrochemistry, materials synthesis and characterization; knowledge of heterogeneous catalysis, synthesis of nanoparticles and supported catalysts.
  • Good spoken and written English (not lower than B2), communication skills. The knowledge of Russian language is a bonus.
  • Applicants are expected to have a work experience in a team of scientists publishing articles in international journals of the 1st quartile. Experience of work under the guidance of well-known scientists working in a subject area close to this project is encouraged.
  • Research performance indicators: h-index is minimum 5, number of publications in the relevant field is no less than 10 (of which at least 4 publications in 1st quartile journals), number of publications cited at least 8 times (according to data from the Scopus database, without self-citation) is minimum 3.
